Did he say John Hopkins instead of JohnS Hopkins? Great show tho!
I agree that lack of trust in individual governments contributed a lot to poor pandemic-response outcomes, for the reasons you talked about. However, I also think that the corruption itself led to bad policy decisions which made things even worse – further eroding people’s trust in those governments. As one example (of too many): At least one country forced tens of millions of people to lose their jobs and their health coverage the moment a deadly freakin’ pandemic was declared. That may have made health insurance company executives very happy, but it probably led to much more harm among the affected families.
I was surprised that Embr Wave actually has some merit, though it’s too bad their (not-as-great) website doesn’t mention Cristina’s caveats about using it outdoors. Also some of the testimonials overplay its effectiveness, IMO. Then again, perhaps I’m just too suspicious because the site seems to have some trappings of pseudoscience. Of course, these folks seem to have ActualScience™ on their side, unlike so many others. 🙂
Thanks again for another great show. Best wishes.
