TRC #574: Year End Wrap Up

Happy New Year, Checkers! The crew rings in the first show of 2020 with a laughter-filled look back at last year. First, a little navel gazing while we chat about our favourite segments. Next, Producer Pat challenges the panel to a sneaky 2019 themed game of ‘Name That’. Lastly, Adam fact checks how well we did with our 2019 predictions, before we take out the proverbial crystal ball and do it all again for 2020.

I think Adam was a little too correct when he said, “I don’t follow U.S. politics very well…” because, starting at 26:17, he gave the wrong results about your Trump impeachment predictions: Donald J. Trump WAS impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives on December 18, 2019; the U.S. Senate is now supposed to hold a trial to decide if he should be removed.

(UNLESS I misunderstood how he was phrasing it, though I did re-listen a few times. I always re-listen to whatever I’m going to complain, er, comment about to make sure I quote folks properly… and quite often then realize that what I heard wasn’t actually what was said. Conflation – D’OH!)

What’s weird is that Darren then said (at 33:24) that he doesn’t believe that Trump will be convicted, so he knows that impeachment is not removal. (BTW, unless Trump strangles a puppy with one hand while signing a bill legalizing child pornography with the other, it’s safe to say he won’t be removed… though knowing how scared the Republicans are of upsetting him, even that’s not a safe bet.)

I’m surprised there are no other messages here, but I’d hate to see your in-box.

BTW I would have loved it if Pat or Christina had been correct. If it happens in 2020 then it’s Fluttershy swag for everyone! (not just Adam)

Also, I am glad you’re getting rid of the Death Pool. Whenever I think of older celebrities it’s usually about how sweet they are. William Russel (from Doctor Who; had a nice cameo in Superman) just turned 95 in November and I’m hoping he outlives me.

Thanks again for another fun show & great wrap up. I hope your 2020 brings you everything you could hope for, plus maybe a few fun surprises.

Thanks Rich! I was right about not following politics. We’ve gotten a few e-mails about it and will be addressing it in the next show. You’re totally right of course! I had no idea.

Next year we’re going to switch it up and try to predict what celebrities will be born in the next year. A considerably more challenging proposal.
