  1. Chris Kuhle says:

    You may have missed this:

“Zika virus has occupied the global media for weeks now, prompted by what appears to be a huge spike in the number of babies born with abnormally small heads.

This has led to a scramble in Brazil to find out what’s really going on, which was when paediatric cardiologist Dr Sandra Mattos realised she was sitting on a database which could provide some answers.

She and her colleagues had surveyed over 100,000 newborns for congenital heart disease, heart defects at birth, in the Brazilian state of Paraiba.

But she realized that the nurses had also collected information such as length, weight, whether they were born at term, and head circumference in just over 16,000 of these babies.”

Hey Chris. Looks interesting, I’ll have to have a listen. That said, this podcast came out a week after we recorded 387 so, we didn’t ‘miss’ it. Reporting on news is sometimes tricky for us because things can change so quickly.

  2. Chris Kuhle says:

I didn’t mean that you “missed’ it because you weren’t paying attention. Rather just as a heads up to let you know of a possible new angle on the whole Zika thing.

Dr Swan has busted a number of science frauds over the years.
