There’s a Berenstain controversy?? When Adam asked the group how it was spelled, I was dumbfounded. I was already reading before the first Berenstain Bears book was published. I read them to my sisters in the 1960s, and I have never known any pronunciation that didn’t rhyme with “stain.” For a while I missed a syllable and called them “Bernstain,” but the last three letters were never in question. Never, I tell you!

I too was perplexed when I saw that there was a Berenstain Bear controversy. I was expecting it to be about some out of date remark that Papa Bear or one of the other Berenstain Bears said. This however was far more interesting. Possibly the best evidence of simulation hypothesis I have ever heard.

    I feel the Berenstains’ pains.

My middle name (and the one I mostly go by) is Blane. Notice the absence of the “i” in it. Few people do, actually. This includes people I’ve emailed, where my full name is spelled out in the “from” section, only to have them spell my name “Blaine” in the reply. People are so surprised when I point that out to them, and they swear they saw an “i” in it.

I guess it’s there’s an I-dimension and a non-I-dimension I’m fluxing back and forth between. (And don’t get me started on misinterpretations of my screen name…)

Cristina from the show deals with this a lot too. Seems most people are more familiar with the spelling “Christina” and so drop an “h” in her name, even when replying to email from her.

Wow is Robbin Stuart ever full of himself. He claims that Billy Meier’s followers make translations to suit their own purposes but weirdly the big NASA idiot is unable to translate them himself? The german version is available to all those who have google translate. He obviously doesn’t have much between those big floppy ears.
